I would definitely recommend Az as teacher to prospective young musicians. Az took my nine year old son, Stan, through his grade 2 exam. He is very patient and deliberate in his teaching methods. He breaks down instructions so they are Stan can understand them which is vital in child education. Az has an excellent way with kids and gets on really well with Stan.

Early in his career Az won a scholarship to study at Drumtech before proceeding to complete his Bachelor’s degree at London College of Music. He stuck with London College of Music and recently received his MMus. As a result of musically-focused education Az believes the most important part of learning an instrument is finding the right teacher.

Az is experienced in teaching a range of abilities and ages, including children with learning disabilities. He is experienced in both the RSL Awards and Trinity College London syllabuses along with music theory, focusing on both technique and stylistic awareness. Az has a 100% pass rate.

He has both secondary school and GCSE experience in ensemble and performance modules. Az runs many ensemble workshops at schools and teaches additional instruments, general musicianship and GCSE preparation. His students have performed on stage at the Barbican.

When he’s not teaching Az spends his time studying jazz and regularly performs live. He plays in groups that have shared line ups with NOFX, Ms Lauryn Hill, Groove Armada, Jimmy Cliff, Chas & Dave, Fishbone, The Streets and UB40.
